Who we are.

Right to Childhood is a UK-based international children’s charity working with local partners for the long term. We are here for children who don’t have the love and support of a parent or guardian. And for those at risk of being separated from their families.

We help prevent family separation, protect children at risk and work for lasting change. This means more children can grow up with the relationships, care and opportunities they need to thrive.

Our story.

For more than 50 years, we have stood alongside children and families around the world. In that time, one thing has remained constant: our belief that children thrive through strong relationships, a sense of belonging and people who are there for them. That belief continues to shape who we are today.

Today, our work spans prevention, protection, advocacy and evidence for the greatest impact. Helping families get support before they reach crisis point. Protecting children who have been separated. Speaking up with children for better systems. And learning what works. We provide practical support today for change that lasts.

Our governance.

Right to Childhood is governed by a Board of Trustees, led by our Chair. They oversee our work, hold us accountable and make sure the charity is well run. Our CEO and senior leadership team lead the organisation day to day and are accountable to the Board.

Safeguarding is built into how we are governed, with Board-level oversight supported by our safeguarding committee and staff safeguarding leads. We follow clear policies and reporting processes, publish information about our work and finances, and are accountable to the Charity Commission and Fundraising Regulator.
